Naarm based Wakka Wakka singer songwriter Lauren Sheree releases her debut EP ‘Breathless’ on 22nd April. Reflecting 24 years of  Laurens lived experience the EP tackles themes of growing up, the love, heartbreak, trauma and experiences that make up every little part of who we are, using the ukulele and Laurens soulful voice paired with powerful lyrics to explore growth through the art of catharsis. Breathless is released via the distribution arm of Bad Apples Music label established by rapper artist Briggs to enable other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists to flourish at the highest level within the music industry.

Recorded at Bakehouse Studio and Beatnik Bunkr, the EP was mixed and mastered in Beatnik Bunkr by Nick Larkins and produced by Linc Yow Yeh.  Laurens powerful yet simple lyrics are musically backed by 5 parts of Melbourne based soul and funk originals, The Deans of Soul, a band described as ‘like a United Nations of Indigenous and Non Indigenous Australians unified in the one Soul groove’. The band reconfigured to help bring Loz’s beautiful originals to life in the live scene and naturally transformed into the studio band to record the EP when the opportunity arose.

Each song is a personal journal about a different life lesson, some of them were brutal, but the music-making process helped me heal and move on. My music creation process is to take raw life experiences and heal through the art of song to reach a feeling of catharsis. ….Lauren Sheree
