Today, award-winning Australian rapper and hip-hop sensation, Philly shares his latest single and video, “Brown Skin” feat. Waari, out via Bad Apples Music. As the first artist signed to Bad Apples back in 2016, today’s release signals the return of new music in 2019 from the Mildura raised, Naarm based MC.

Celebrating heritage, the video sees Philly and Waari champion their Indigenous culture, showering adoration and respect for the powerful Indigenous female figures in their lives. A playfully colourful and uplifting visual, “Brown Skin” showcases Philly’s mellow bars with Waari’s dreamy vocals, guided gently by an acoustic guitar melody that further spotlights the masterful pairing of their combined talents. Imbued with deep appreciation of their “Black Queen”, Philly uses “Brown Skin” to highlight the unparalleled strength of Indigenous Australian women across all generations and as Bad Apples continuously does, promote black excellence across the nation.

Having teased fans with his performance at the Sydney Opera House as part of Briggs’ Bad Apples House Party, Philly recently returned to the stage for Klub Koori at Carriageworks. Once again making his mark, Philly wowed audiences with his latest collaborative single with Christine Anu “Heal Together”, performed at the 2019 National NAIDOC Awards at Canberra’s Convention Centre earlier this month.

Born in the golden era of hip-hop in Melbourne, Philly was destined for a life in music. Since an early age, Philly has taken to words to portray powerful and positive messages, influencing the nation with his music. His recognition within the industry began to shine through in 2010. Having won numerous awards for his commitment to music including; the National Noel Tovey Achievement Award, Mildura’s NAIDOC Artist of the Year, National Indigenous Music Award amongst others, he has proven to be a serious influencer within the Australian hip-hop category.

Launching onto the scene in 2015 with his debut EP, Dreamchaser and breathtaking triple j Like A Version, Philly has consistently used his gift and voice to make change and inspire young people. Back today, press play and repeat on the “Brown Skin” for a 2019 teaser of what’s to come from the Bad Apples artist.
