Sydney artist Kobie Dee from Bidjigal Land Maroubra returns with “Aim For The Stars” out now via Bad Apples Music / Island Records Australia. Already selected as the official sync for the A-League Paramount+ Finals campaign and with a live performance locked in for the Grand Final, the powerful, uplifting hip-hop release marks a defining career moment for Kobie – pairing a national stage with a message of ambition, resilience and rising above adversity.
Raised in Maroubra, Kobie Dee draws directly from his own experiences across the track.
“Aim For The Stars” reflects his journey growing up in the area, from freestyling in local parks to building a career in music while remaining deeply connected to his community.
“I want people to hear this song and feel like no dream is too big,” Kobie says. “Especially young people coming from the same streets I started in. I want them to believe that they can see themselves in these spaces too. For me, Aiming For The Stars means taking Maroubra to the world, not leaving it and just telling stories about it,” he says.
The A-League sync further reinforces the song’s universal message of ambition and drive, as well as reflecting Indigenous representation across all industries. “It didn’t change how I viewed the song, it solidified it,” Kobie says. “It’s a song that connects with anyone chasing something, whether that’s in sport, music or anything else.”
“We dominate in sport, but we’re also incredibly creative. There’s so much talent in our communities that could have gone into music or sport,” he says.
Driven by hard-hitting production, layered horns, roaring crowd elements and Kobie’s signature storytelling, “Aim For The Stars” blends raw lyricism with an anthemic energy that resonates far beyond the field. Rooted in authenticity and cultural pride, the record captures the spirit of chasing greatness, making it a natural fit for one of Australia’s biggest sporting stages.
The track was written alongside producer NERVE and collaborators WYES, GENE and SMAK. When NERVE started the beat, I just went straight in with the lyrics. It was one of those moments where everything flowed and I was able to get everything off my mind,” Kobie explains.
This release signals an exciting new chapter for Kobie Dee, cementing his place as one of the most vital and compelling voices in Australian hip-hop today.
